Homefront – Worse multiplayer EVER!

May 30th, 2011

When first seeing this game I thought great things. I played the single player which i enjoyed, variety, graphics, a bit of a story line.

I put in the “battle code” so that I could play online and off I went. I enjoyed the first couple of games however as time went on I just gave up. You literally can’t do anything if you’re on a server with a lot of high ranked players. They have a deadly arsenal and what do you have? Next to nothing.

The multiplayer is so unbalanced it’s unplayable. Every time you spawn being taken out by some sort of bomb or missile isn’t fun.

It’s like when I posted about Xbox Live – Playing online and annoyances.  Homefront needs to work on a better multiplayer environment where the servers are evenly populated with players within the same ranks rather than level 5’s against 61’s.

Xbox Live – Playing online and annoyances

November 29th, 2010

After being a PC gamer for many years finding a friendly public or clan server wasn’t very difficult.  Over months you’d be known for respecting rules and able to give banter as much as take banter  with fellow players or with the clan server administrators.  If you don’t abide the server rules then you’d be kicked, carry on repeating offences then you’d be banned and 9/10 it would be permanent. Eventually you have no decent servers to play on.

When we ran our own 1942 and battlefield series games servers we were fairly lenient. A couple of warnings and then a ban, however would only be for a week anything further and then the offending player would be able to appeal on our forums. This is where console online gaming is limited.

Problems and Solutions

Console Game Server Rental

To make the whole online experience a better one, being able to rent your own preferred game server would stop all the monkeys out there who constantly base camp or just put a downer on the whole game.  This would be 1 step forward as the server could be administered properly creating an environment the player would enjoy.

Game update to include exclusion zones

Googling about xbox server rentals returns absolutely nothing of worth while about the matter in hand, so what else would be done?  This is where the other 50% from the gaming manufacture comes in.  With the advancement of technologies how hard would it be to put a perimeter around say the main base where enemies can’t enter or they lose health.  This approach could only exist on certain gaming platforms, ideal example would be Bad Company 2. Introducing a control mechanism, players on that server can have a fair game without worrying about some base camping rouge player wiping them out as they spawn would be a big thumbs up.

Game Server Software Update

Another option would be to introduce an auto levelling filter. What I mean with this is you get put on a server with players with around the same experience “level” as you. Who’s fault?

This is where playing online fails, miserably. Where does the blame lie? Is it the Xbox Live system or is it the game makers or 50/50?  I recon it’s 50/50.

Any of the above would be a fantastic addition to online gaming especially on the xbox platform. These thoughts wouldn’t exactly being rocket science to introduce.   This would then hopefully stop people like [S7H]beauregard92 stealing an allies helicopter from Bad Company 2 and base raping.

Clan/Game servers – Battlefield 1942

December 20th, 2009

51FGDTGAB6L._SL160_ Ok, we’re a big fan of the original Battlefield 1942 series. The game was release in 2002 and is alot of fun to play, is a shame the expansion packs were a let down. For anyone not heard of the game then head over to the official page, am sure you could pick it up on Amazon for a couple of ££’s..

Anyway, we’re on the look out for some friendly clan servers that are fun to play on, not full of idiots base raping, spawn camping, and easily contactable server administrators.

If you or your clan have such a server please let us know, just comment below, we’ll happily give you a mention/review you in a future post.
